Christopher Knights is a Toronto-based artist. He trained at the Sheridan College of Applied Arts, specializing in editorial illustration. Chris has exhibited his paintings in group and solo shows since 1986. In 2003 Christopher Knights co-founded Engine Gallery in Toronto where he was co-owner of the gallery until 2009. His work is represented in many private and public collections in Canada and the US.
The artist grew up in the Collingwood area. He is inspired by his early experiences of rural nature and an active exploration of his psyche. Knight’s paintings result in expressionist environments featuring mechanical and biomorphic forms, flashes of memory gathered on cycling road trips and intuitive graffic elements fueled by adventures through the urban core.
“My vision is to create images through the mystery of painting that convey the sculptural beauty of man made objects and the essence, love and magnificence of nature.”
