Dimitri Papatheodorou is a painter, architect and musician. Born in Toronto, he teaches in the Architecture Department at Ryerson University and operates a rural studio in Warkworth Ontario.
A painting marks the progression of time, frames a lyrical line, or represents a sequence of light filled architectural spaces. A work of architecture is imbued with colour, patterned textures, forming chambers of acoustic reflections. A song is written for a particular site, located in a memorable landscape, traversing the depths of language.
Within all of Papatheodorou’s work are elements of a life lived in real time. The paintings in particular, take months to complete; consisting of layers of glazing (oil), they are a culmination of methodic brushwork.
His work has appeared in many group and solo exhibitions across Canada.
