The Beaver Hall Group was a trailblazing circle of artists based in Montreal in the 1920s, known for their bold use of colour and modernist vision. Unlike the Group of Seven, they embraced both urban life and portraiture—especially of women—and were remarkable for their inclusive spirit, with many prominent female artists among their ranks. Their work helped shape a uniquely Canadian take on modern art. Artists considered members either exhibited in the two annual Beaver Hall Group exhibitions, shared studio spaces at 305 Beaver Hall Hill or later shared close relationships with key members.
