Quinn Henderson
FEEL BETTER LOST

May 2-16, 2026

Solo Exhibition

Feel Better Lost marks the first solo exhibition of Canadian artist Quinn Henderson, bringing together a focused body of atmospheric landscape paintings produced between 2025 and 2026. Drawing on experiences of Newfoundland, Quebec, and Ontario, Henderson reframes lived environments through a lens shaped by memory, time, and emotional recall.

At the core of the practice is a sustained investigation into light — rendered not as a faithful record, but as something closer to how experience is remembered. These are not landscapes observed, but landscapes recalled: filtered, softened, and altered by time. Like a sun-bleached photograph, memory here is unstable — its hues shifting, its edges dissolving, its atmosphere thickened by feeling.

Henderson’s technique rewards close attention. A deft hand and perceptive eye produce layered surfaces where unexpected juxtapositions of colour resolve, at a distance, into luminous and convincingly natural tonalities — recalling the optical sensitivity of Ozias Leduc, Suzor-Coté, and Charles Comfort, and situating the work within a broader continuum of Canadian painting.

Colour here becomes associative rather than descriptive: moments register as warmer, darker, or more luminous than they ever were. Feel Better Lost signals the emergence of a painter committed to both material rigor and emotional depth — a combination that positions this work with confidence within the evolving landscape of contemporary Canadian painting.

Quinn Henderson

Quinn Henderson (b. 1994, Guelph, Ontario) is a self-taught oil painter whose work explores the intricate relationship between landscape, light, and emotional resonance. Primarily known for his naturalistic and impressionistic approach, Henderson’s paintings capture the quiet beauty of the natural world while evoking themes of stillness, loneliness, and isolation.

Henderson’s creative journey began in his hometown of Guelph, Ontario, where he developed a deep connection to the landscapes around him. While his formal training is minimal, Henderson credits a mentorship with artist Keita Morimoto for guiding and refining his artistic voice. His work is marked by an intuitive understanding of color relationships and a dedication to portraying the subtle yet powerful atmospheres of the environments he paints.

In his landscapes, Henderson invites viewers to experience not just the scenes themselves but the emotions they stir. His pieces reflect an ongoing exploration of solitude and the quiet moments found in nature, offering a meditative space for reflection. The richness of his oil paintings brings texture, depth, and life to the simple but profound subject matter, creating intimate visual narratives that resonate long after the viewer has stepped away.
