Did you know that one of Canada’s most influential abstract artists, Marcelle Ferron, was also a revolutionary? In 1948, she signed the Refus Global, a manifesto that challenged religious and societal norms in Quebec – risking her career for artistic freedom.

Her work is a bold explosion of color and movement, first on canvas and later in stunning stained-glass masterpieces, like the breathtaking windows at Montreal’s Champ-de-Mars metro station. Ferron’s art wasn’t just about aesthetics – it was a statement of liberation, energy, and change. Her legacy continues to shine, literally and figuratively.
