Group of Seven

Formed in 1920, the Group of Seven undeniably altered the trajectory of Canadian art history. Inspired in part by the loss of the iconoclastic Tom Thomson, its members forged a bold new direction, redefining the visual language of Canadian painting. Embraced by influential curators and cultural tastemakers, the Group swiftly established itself as one of the most significant movements ever to emerge in this country.

Their daring, exploratory sketches and canvases—rendering the Canadian landscape from coast to coast—offered the nation a fresh visual identity, one that underscored the immensity and majesty of its environment. Today, their iconic works form the cornerstone of major institutional collections, are exhibited internationally, and remain among the most sought-after pieces by private collectors.

Though the Group formally disbanded as an exhibiting collective in 1933, many of its members continued to paint with unwavering focus and a deep commitment to capturing the breadth of the Canadian landscape. For nearly five decades, our gallery has specialized in the works of the Group of Seven, drawing upon a well-established and discerning network of contacts to source exceptional pieces to offer for both emerging and seasoned collectors.

If you have a historical artwork to sell, or are interested in acquiring exceptional works by Canadian artists, we’d love to hear from you.
